Mary L Taylor

MARY L. TAYLOR, daughter of the late Janie Smith and Fletcher Taylor was born March 30, 1931 in Jamestown, South Carolina. God called Mary to her eternal home on September 1, 2019. She was the second born of seven children.

Mary was educated in the South Carolina Public School System.She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended the Liberty Reform Episcopal Church in Jamestown where she was a talented organist.

Mary married the love of her life Amos Taylor in August 1951 and together the young couple began a new life in Baltimore, Maryland. Mary took pride in being a homemaker and a very fine cook.

One of her greatest hobbies involved being engrossed in daytime soap operas or her "stories". During the soap opera heyday, she managed to prepare dinner while the Kitchen television played the stories on ABC, the "main television" in the living room was strictly reserved for the entire CBS daytime line up.

Mary extended her hand of friendship to all of the women on her beloved Madison Street. An excellent driver, she assisted several friends with obtaining their own driver's licenses during a time when women were not really expected to drive.

Mary's feisty and loving spirit made her a favorite friend and family member.

Mary became a young widow when she lost her beloved husband Amos in August 1982. She was heartbroken at the passing of her youngest daughter Theresa in March of this year.

To cherish many warm and loving memories, she leaves behind two daughters Cariel Taylor Edwards and Barbara Taylor; sons Amos S. Taylor Jr. and Freddy Taylor Sr.; two sisters Jesten Taylor Williams and Marth Ann Yeadon; grandchildren, Diandra Taylor, Derek Booth, Danielle Booth and Freddy Taylor Jr.; daughter-in-law Amy Taylor; great-grandchildren, Daisha Booth, Derion T. Booth, Gianna Briscoe, Damari Booth and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
