MARY ELIZABETH DAVIS, affectionately known as "Mar," was born on March 28,1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Margaret Anderson and Henry Foster. She was the youngest of four children.

Educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, she attended Dunbar High School and later received her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. She went on to work at St. Joseph Hospital, Goetze's Candy Company and Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she later retired.

Mary was known for her kindness and willingness to help others, always giving what she could and showing up when needed. She never turned her back on anyone, and her generosity left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She loved music and dancing and brought her own energy into every space she was in. She enjoyed being in good company and carried her faith with her daily, often saying, "God got me." Warm and attentive, she made those around her feel seen and valued, and her presence will be remembered by many.

On April 22, 2026, Mary peacefully transitioned.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Davis; her son, Lawrence Miller Sr.; her sisters, Rita Anderson and Viola Anderson; her brother, Raymond Anderson; her grandsons, Lawrence Miller III ("Knuckles") and Robert Barnes ("Elroy"); and her granddaughters, Evoria Carr ("Nina") and Sharon Miller.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sharon Carr Butler; her son-in-law, Jerry Butler; and a special daughter she called her own, Marsha Johnson. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Shareice Carr, Lawrence Miller Jr., Tanice Miller, Quandria Butler and Kevin Peay Jr.; ten great-grandchildren, Iesha Miller, Raquel Miller, Trashawn Barnes, Brittany Blackmon, Rashawn Barnes, Ni'Jae Morris, Mi'el Barnes, James Norris, Kalia Peay and Kevin Peay; her nieces, Evoria, Marion, Annette, Shawntea, and Lanell; her nephews, Thomas and Andre; her beloved best friends, Willy Chalk and Charlotte NcCown (Boola); and a host of other relatives and friends.
