Marjorie Geneva Harrison, affectionately known as Marge or Margie, passed away peacefully in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 3, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on November 15, 1947 in Meherrin, Virginia, Marjorie was a beacon of strength, compassion, and authenticity to all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Baltimore’s class of 1966, Marjorie went on to build a remarkable career, dedicating over 35 combined years of service at the Social Security Administration and the State of Maryland before her well-earned retirement. Her commitment to her work was only matched by her devotion to family and community.

Though her immediate family was close to her heart, Marjorie's nurturing spirit extended far beyond. She became a motherly figure to many neighborhood children, earning the affectionately given title of “Mom” by countless young lives she guided with tough love and unyielding support.

Known for her “no nonsense” approach, Marjorie was never one to tolerate disrespect. She believed profoundly in community responsibility and was quick to guide youth, always with a caring heart and a helping hand. If she had something you needed, she would freely give it, never wanting to see anyone she cared for go without.

Marjorie was also celebrated for her legendary home-cooked meals – especially her potato salad, greens, hog mogs, chitterlings, and seafood salad. Her love of music was evident in her involvement with the Zion Baptist Church Choir, and she often filled her home with gospel and oldies tunes. In retirement, she embraced her passion for travel, eagerly exploring new places as often as she could.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Stokes (Redd), her father, Charles Shepperson, stepfather, Burnell Stokes. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Philip Harrison and recently her partner, Walter Harleston.

Marjorie is survived by her 2 loving children, Tonya Harrison and Philip Harrison II as well as her 4 loving grandchildren: Dana Brown, Kaia’ Harrison, India Harrison and Naudia Harrison.

Although death is a natural passage, nothing can truly prepare us for the loss of someone so integral to our lives, even when you know it is inevitable. For 77 years, we were blessed by Marjorie’s presence, guidance, and love. Our hearts are heavy, yet spiritually full, for we know our angel has ascended to her heavenly home and will continue watching over us all.
