MARIE (JOSEPH) ROBERTSON, was born on July 1, 1938 to the late Walter and Minnie Lee Joseph who transitioned from Rocky Mount, North Carolina to Baltimore, Maryland.
Marie grew up in Baltimore City, which became her lifelong home with her eight siblings.
Marie, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and devoted servant of God peacefully transitioned from this life on, August 9, 2024.
Marie attended Baltimore City Public Schools and later pursued a career in nursing. The nursing field allowed her to demonstrate the passion and commitment she had in helping others. She also worked at The Baltimore Sun, where she retired. She was a woman of strong faith and was an active member of the Macedonia Apostolic Church under the late Pastor Mother Josephine Prittchett. She later joined the Bible Revival Deliverance Church under the late Pastor Gladys Burton-Hairston. She was a dedicated member and served faithfully on the usher board and leveraged her love for interior decorating to help beautify the sanctuary. She was a true missionary at heart, consistently demonstrating her love and commitment beyond the walls of the church. She was fully dedicated to the mission of Jesus Christ, spreading love, support, and allowing her light to shine wherever she served.
Marie was joined in Holy Matrimony to David Robertson, Sr., then later married Al Noel in 1982. They raised seven beautiful children; Charles, Maria, Andre, David, Yvonne, Darnell and Pam.
Known for her culinary skills, Marie's fried crabs were a neighborhood favorite. She was also gifted in sewing and interior decorating and her home was always meticulous. Through her generous spirit and compassion for people, she enjoyed an annual tradition of presenting Christmas gifts to her doctors at Mercy Hospital. Marie was a giver at heart. She would give anyone the clothes off of her back and pillow to sleep on. Marie dedicated her life caring for others. Her commitment to the community was also evident through her missionary work and her efforts in keeping her neighborhood clean, which earned her Clean Block awards. She was passionate about sharing the word of God and could often be heard quoting scripture.
Marie will be remembered for her incredible strength in raising seven children on her own, her delicious cooking, her beautifully decorated home, and her unwavering faith. Her life was a testament to perseverance, love and true servanthood.
Her parents, one son, and eight siblings preceded her in death; parents, Walter and Minnie Joseph; son, David Robertson; siblings, Erma, Mary, Annette, Barbara, Abby, Zelma, Jean and Leonard.
Marie leaves to cherish her memories and legacy, three devoted daughters, Maria Stevenson, Yvonne Hubbard and Pamela Robertson; three devoted sons, Charles Yates, Andre Robertson (Brenda), and Darnell Robertson (Cynthia); many grandchildren, Maurice, Albert, Chante, Marquita, Rodney Jr., Debra, Davida, Shareese, Antoine, Diona, David, Katrina, Jasmine, Lindsey, Jermaine, Vernel, Lionel, Shanae, Cynnell, Marie and Darnell Jr., and many more, numerous great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
As Marie enters into her eternal rest, we are reminded of the comforting words from II Corinthians 5:8, "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
