Margaret R Conley

Margaret Rosena Conley was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 16, 1937, to the late Mary Catherine Ballard and Frank Maddox. She departed this life after a lengthy illness on December 12, 2024

Margaret lived in Baltimore City all her life and was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System.

She married David Hicks Conley; Sr. and they lived as one until his death.

Margaret was never employed outside of the home. She devoted her life to raising her 6 children with unwavering love on her own. In addition, Mark Holmes Sr., who she loved as a family member. Margaret was affectionately known as “Pinky” and to some of her grandchildren “Big Pink” known for her deep love. Margaret was the heart and soul of the family. She expressed her feelings in many ways for her family. Margaret loved hard! She loved her children and adored all of her grandchildren. She spared no words as to how she felt as she offered guidance, encouragement, and support to them. She was stern, funny, kind, loving, very out spoken and courageous, and cut no corners to share with you what was on her mind, be it good or bad.

In addition, to her family Margaret had a deep attraction for playing cards with a host of friends in her card circle. Her Friday night card games would last into Saturday mornings at times. She loved crossword puzzles and loved to play her lottery numbers. We all know how she would dig deep to pull out the money to send one of the kids to get her numbers, which brought her much joy. Margaret spent her days with family listening to her R&B and/or Gospel music, or sitting on the front conversating with family and friends.

Margaret passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved her. We will cherish her memories. Her loving children: Gail “Diane” Cousins, David Conley Sr. (Emma Gorham), Johnnie Conley Sr. (Nivel Conley), Carolyn Jones and daughter-in-law Robin “Shelly” Conley. Her sons Robert Conley Sr. (Robin) and Melvin Conley proceeded in death. She has sixteen adoring grandchildren Johnnie Conley Jr. Jinika Conley, Robert Conley, Jr., David Conley Jr., Jamar Conley, Jerald Conley, Ashley Conley-Glover, Robin Hope Conley, Rochele Conley, Natalie Conley, Tia Conley, Mustafa Meredith, Fatima Meredith, and Marco Johnson. Her grandchildren Tracey Holmes and Mario Johnson proceeded her in death.

She was also blessed with thirty-four great grandchildren Devin, Mark, Ameerah, Joneyta, Taylor, Mikaya, Cache, Casey, Casius, Morgan, Tayler, Adriane, Tyjae, Tywaun, Tysean, Tyrie, David III, Anaya, Ashlynn, Cameron, London, Antione, Anthony, Storm, Logan, Heavenly-Ann, Valaria, Victoria, Delona, Kimar, Jamarii, Jacari, Ja’myah, Tajae, and 1 great great grandchild Zarii.
