On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Lydia Mae Edmond peacefully departed this life at her home, where she was cared for by her children and grandchildren.

Lydia, affectionately known as “Bootsie” was born September 30,1933, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Roland Price Sr., and Mae Price.

She was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School at the age of sixteen, and continued her studies afterward at Carver High School.

Lydia worked in the Healthcare field for over 47 years, dedicating 15 years to John Hopkins as an Executive Assistant, and 32 years to University Hospital as the Manager of Registration in the Medical Records Department.

As a child, Lydia attended Knox Presbyterian Church under the late Pastor O. Graham.  Later years, she rededicated her life, got baptized, and joined Zion Hill Baptist Church, under the leadership of her late brother, Pastor Randolph Price Sr.  At Zion Hill, she loved serving as an usher, and on the culinary team.  Lydia remained steadfast in her faith and love for Jesus through to the end.  Job well done, good and faithful servant.

Lydia knew her purpose and the plan of God for her life. She had the gift of love and compassion and she demonstrated it to everyone.  Her enjoyment for life was paramount, peerless, and preeminent.  She held a special place in her heart for everyone she knew, always making you feel welcome and that you belong.

She was an enthusiastic sports lover and coached a women’s softball team in her younger years (Poets).  Her favorite sport was football and her favorite team was the Baltimore Ravens.  Bootsie loved watching the football games with her grandsons and all the young people who gathered at her home.  She was an excellent cook and loved to prepare all types of food for her family and friends.  Bootsie also loved reading, dancing, and bowling.

Lydia was united in Holy Matrimony to John Edward Edmond Sr., who preceded her in death.  From this union, seven children were born, Deneise (Troy), John E. Jr., Melinda (Rickey), Tania (Wayne), Deon (Shawntia), Derrick and Brian (preceded her in death).

She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories with her ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Roland Price Sr., and Jerome Price Sr.; two sisters, Mary England and Diane Leach; two sisters-in-laws, Carleen and Rita Price; one brother-in-law Reginald Leach; two special friends Barbara Mott and Debbie Singletary and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Lydia Mae Edmond peacefully departed this life at her home, where she was cared for by her children and grandchildren.
