LUCINDA LEE SAUNDERS was born on September 12, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed from her earthly body to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

Lucinda was born to the late Irvin Wilson and Cynthia Poole. She often shared her fond memories of her childhood home on Somerset Street. She received her education from Baltimore City Public Schools. She was employed at Koppers Baltimore Landfill in Baltimore City.

On December 11, 1954, she married the love of her life, William Saunders. They were inseparable until he departed this life on August 1, 2003. Together, Lucinda and William raised their four sons. They loved listening to jazz, traveling and hosting fun gatherings at their home. They were role models for what love should be. She even said her license plate "LYW" stood for "Love You William." She would often refer to him as "My William"

Lucinda, affectionately known as "Lu" was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Lucinda loved cooking for her family and hosting for the holidays. Everyone loved to visit her home and receive her infamous "you-who" when she answered the door. Nothing brought her more joy than her family.

Lucinda enjoyed listening to jazz, blues and gospel music. As a woman with style and grace "Lu" made sure to pamper herself with weekly visits to the beauty salon, and shopping sprees at Macy's. She also loved her signature red lipstick and ruby red nail polish. She was truly A Class Act.

Lucinda was a woman of faith and was a active member of Faith Baptist Church. She participated in the Miss Faith Centennial in 1991, a program that consisted of fifteen women who assisted with the annual financial goal of the church. She also received an award for her generous contribution to church renovations in 2006.

Lucinda was preceded in death by her husband William, her brother Robert Wilson, two of her sons; Roderick Saunders, Guy Saunders and daughter-in-law, Thelma Tate.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, William Saunders Jr., and Damon Saunders; daughter-in-law, Pamela Saunders; grandchildren, Sherelle Tate, Ebony Saunders, Ken Saunders and Blake Saunders; great-grandchildren, Shamara Owens, Ava Bryant and Ian Bryant; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
