Lucille Byers, daughter of the late James and Lizzie Lee, was born in Prince Edward County, Rice Virginia on May 1, 1923.
Lucille attended public schools in Rice, Virginia and she began her religious life at an early age. She was converted and baptized at the High Rock Baptist Church. Lucille met and married the late Thomas M. Byers, Sr. and from that union they had five children. Lucille loved her family and enjoyed cooking (and she was a GOOD) cook. She cared deeply for her children.
In the mid 90's, Lucille joined Emanuel Baptist Church of Overlea, Maryland, where she attended faithfully.
For a brief time, she was cared for by Gilchrist In-Home Hospice Care, where her son, Carl and daughter, Evaline took care of her at home, which is where she wanted to be. In the early morning hours of Monday, June 6, 2016, God whispered to Lucille, "job well done" and took her away while she peacefully slept.
Lucille leaves to mourn her precious memory: three sons, Thomas Byers, Jr. of Edgewood, Maryland, Kevin T. Byers of East Orange, New Jersey, Carl V. Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, two daughters, Estelle Dickey of Tallahassee, Florida and Evaline Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, sister, Edith Haskins of Farmville, Virginia, two sons-in-law, Fred Dickey of Tallahassee, Florida and Tommy Simpson of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, two sisters-in-law, Mamie Stokes and Cynthia Simpson of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, one daughter-in-law, Salima Byers of Edgewood, Maryland, eleven grandchildren, Christine Dickey of Tallahassee, Florida, Ryan Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, Tyler Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, JaCarla Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, Tarshia Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, LaShay Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, Kevin Tyikey Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, Marco Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, India Byers of Baltimore, Maryland, Josephine Byers of East Orange, New Jersey and Kevin Byers, Jr. of East Orange, New Jersey and a host of great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
