Listen to Obituary

Louann Goods, daughter of the late Santee and Rose Ann Harrison, was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia on December 16, 1936. On Friday, December 7th, she quietly slipped away from this life to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Louann moved with her family to Baltimore as a young child. She grew up in East Baltimore and attended Baltimore City Public Schools. As the eldest of twelve children, she was a great help with caring for her younger siblings, which is how she developed a love for children.

At a relatively young age, Louann met John T. Goods Sr. On April 5, 1954, they were united in holy matrimony. Their union was blessed with six children. Louann worked for a short period of time at Stella Maris Hospice alongside her mother. However, many of her early years were spent as a homemaker and raising her children.

Louann in her mid-years, became affectionately known as “Granny”. She earned this nick-name because she was not only the mother of her six children, she was a mother figure to so many more. In addition, she earned the name of Mama Lou, as she became a daycare provider to many of the children in her neighborhood. There wasn’t a child that she encountered that she didn’t love as if they were her own. She never had a problem feeding and caring people and you would have a hard time finding anyone who didn’t have a kind word to say about her.

Louann was raised attending church and accepted Christ at an early age while she was a member of United Baptist Church. She later, along with other members of her family, became a founding member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church where she served for years until she joined Pleading Holiness Church under the leadership of Bishop James H. Jackson. In the mid 80’s she rejoined Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until her death. She served on several ministries while attending Mount Carmel. However, her favorite role was that of an usher.

Granny was loved by many and her presence will forever be felt in the lives of everyone that she became acquainted with. You can search high low and beyond, but you will have a difficult time finding a more loving, caring and humble woman as Granny. She served God, her husband and her children and set a great example of what a woman should be. She was the true definition of a virtuous woman.

Louann was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John T. Goods Sr., her grand-daughter; Shawnice Goods, two great grandsons; Ricardo Goods Jr. and Darnell Goods; a daughter in-law, Tangie Goods, seven brothers and three sisters.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her six children: Jacqueline Goods, John T. Goods Jr., Pastor Charles Goods, Rosalind Hall, Bryan Goods and Leon Goods (Frances); twenty nine grandchildren, fifty two great-grandchildren, nineteen great-great grandchildren; four Sisters; Daisy, Pearl, Carolyn and Angela (husband-Lee); one Brother, Thomas (wife-Lucretia); two brothers in-law; Willie and Harold and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
