Listen to Obituary

Linda L. Bell was born on August 9, 1952 in Prince Edwards County, Virginia. The oldest child of the late James and Beatrice (Lee) Bell..

On May 31st, God, in his infinite wisdom, unexpectedly took her from this earthly family, and transitioned her to her heavenly reward.

As a young child Linda moved with her parents from Meherrin, Virginia to Catonsville, Maryland. She attended Banneker Elementary School in Baltimore County. Her parents later relocated to Edmondson Village and Linda transferred to Baltimore City Public Schools. In 1971, she graduated from Forest Park High School. Linda continued her post secondary educational studies at Coppin State College. As her faith in God matured, she decided to change her studies from Early Childhood Education to Adult Counseling.

In 1977, she began her career with the Maryland State Police, Criminal Justice Information System-Central Repository as a Fingerprint Specialist. While working full-time and going to school, she began her own cleaning business, where she maintained, on a part time basis, cleaning contracts for various commercial properties. In 1998, she graduated with her AA degree from Family Bible Ministries.

Linda retired from the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services in 2007, as a Fingerprint Specialist II. After retirement, Linda took on various part-time employment opportunities, to include, but not limited to, Baltimore County Crossing Guard, Captain of Security at the Port of Baltimore and most recently Evening Security Guard at T. Rowe Price.

Linda accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for many years. During her adult life, she transferred her Christian experience to the New Psalmist Baptist Church. As an usher at New Psalmist she enjoyed serving and fellowshipping with her church family. Linda was very passionate about the Lord and served dutifully, throughout the years, in many different facets within the church. In 2018, Linda graduated from the New Psalmist Discipleship class. Her three years of studies not only prepared her for the missionary work she was destined to do, but it grew her extended family as she formed special bonds with many of her classmates.

To Linda, God and family were everything. Her face was always full of pride when she talked about her two beautiful and successful daughters. They were the loves of her life, for which she would do anything. Her joy was increased with the addition of  her grandsons, who meant the world to her. She also enjoyed spending time with family near and far. She knew everyone and everyone knew and loved her dearly. As the family historian, she had extensive knowledge of her family history. Linda could tell a story and have everyone around her laughing for hours.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Beatrice and James Bell, one brother James Bell (Nim), two sisters; Sanda Palmer and Cheryl Rorie, three brothers-in-law;Clark Rorie, Michael Palmer, and Rodney Armes.

Linda leaves to mourn, cherish and celebrate her life and legacy, two daughters, Andrea Jones (Corey), and Tyra Jones; three grandsons, Trevor, Dylan, and Delvin; one sister, Deborah Armes; one brother, Jason Bell; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
