LILLY MAE MEGGINSON, the eldest daughter and preceded in death by parents, Edwin (Sweetie) and Josephine Jackson, two sisters, Betty, Mable(Toot) and two brothers, Buster and June. Lillie was born November 6, 1936 in Appomattox, Virginia. Lillie slipped away to be with GOD on March 24, 2023. Prior to her departure from this life and after enduring some recent illness, she had seen comforted and cared for by all her children, who loved her dearly. Each child willingly made sacrifices to ensure that their Mom's time remaining would be as peaceful and comfortable as humanly possible. Lillie was educated in the Appomattox County School System and was baptized and accepted Jesus at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Virginia.

Lillie Jackson and Bill "Catfish Megginson married on September 28, 1953, he returned from war to claim the love of his life. Lillie with child in tow and Bill at her side went to live in Maryland at the invitation of sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Pat Ferguson. The family moved into a home in Turner Station and shortly there after purchased a home in Baltimore City to accommodate their growing family. She was a caring daughter, sister and loving wife of 69 years. A mother who loved to spoil her children while also instilling values and strength of courage into them. Lillie's good nature and wonderful loving personality attracted many neighbors to befriend her, Diana Owens who walked with Lillie every day and especially, Vi and Willie Nichols, who are and will remain close friends to the family. Lillie had also developed long lasting relationships with her co-deaconess Connie Monroe and Roxanne Phillips from her service at her beloved Zion Baptist Church of Christ. Lillie liked making regular visits to the country, sharing and spending time with her family in which she received special treatment and reverence as the eldest. Lillie also had a green thumb for growing plants and flowers, both inside and outdoors. She was especially fond of the roses she grew. She loved songs of praise and read the bible and devotions every day. Her strength was firmly rooted in her faith. Lillie decided once baby Kevin was old enough, she needed to explore her independence. So she went to work for the Hecht Company, as a dishwasher and then working her way to head cook and becoming head of the Restaurant. Lillie loved to cook and bake and always provided "a come and make youself at home experience" when you dropped in on her. She finished her working career with excitement and determination. She was able to finish her career at Advance Federal Bank, retiring in November of 2002.

She leaves to cherish three sisters, Ann Franklin, Alease Trent and Isbelle Patterson; three devoted sons, Marshall Jr., Michael and Kevin; her only daughter, Valerie (her ride or die and best-est shopping partner), one son-in-law, Jeffrey Exum, one daughter in law Connie; three grandsons, Kenneth, Rico and Devin; one granddaughter Megan, two great granddaughters, Dominique and  baby Gianna, two great grandsons, Jaylen and Jaxon and one great-great grandson Keon and numerous nieces and nephew and one dedicated nephew who made sure she received her flowers while she was yet alive, Anthony Jones.
