LILLIE MAE REED was the daughter of the late Harvey Lee Wood and Julia Barksdale-Wood and step mother Elizabeth Venable-Wood. She was the last of three siblings, Willie Wood and Dorothy Ragsdale who preceded her in death.

She was born in Halifax County, Virginia on March 19, 1928, she joined St. Paul CME Church being in strong faith and trusting the Lord and Savior throughout her life of 88 yeas. Her famous sayings were I'm doing quite well, thank you Jesus, I just want to hear your voice and she would always tell us to say if its the Lord Will.
The Lord decided her work was done and called her home.

She received her education in Halifax County. In 1947 she met and married the love of her life Jesse C. Reed, they were blessed to have 13 children, two of which preceded her in death(Joseph Reed Wood, Carolyn Thigpen and the death of 2 girls in their infancy). They moved to Baltimore in 1956, years later she joined United Baptist Church a member until health failed her.

Granny, as she was affectionately called by her family and those throughout the neighborhood. She was everybody's Granny especially to those she knew, even those she didn't know.
