On a cold winter day, God blessed the late Walter W. Brown, Sr. and Annie B. Brown with the birth of their baby girl, Leone Carr- Thaniel, on January 5, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland. As God had promised that he would return to receive his own. He stopped by on May 8, 2026, to once again claim the victory as he called Leone home.

Leone's life was defined by love, strength, and an unwavering devotion to her family. She was educated at St. Francis Xavier School and Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. As a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church she was baptized under the leadership of Father Offer in 1958. 

Leone became the heart of every gathering. She was known for her warm smile, her fierce yet soft-hearted personality, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. Whether she was offering thoughtful advice, cooking a favorite meal, or sharing her honest perspective, she did so out of deep care for those around her.

She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life: watching Westerns and game shows, traveling, shopping and visits to the nail salon. She also loved crossword puzzles, reading the newspaper and playing the lottery. Her greatest happiness, however, came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her kitchen was a place of togetherness, especially during the holidays, where the aromas of her cooking and the sound of laughter created memories that will be cherished for generations.

Leone married the love of her life, Paul Thaniel, on October 7, 2006. Together, they shared a loving and devoted marriage grounded in companionship, faith, and support for one another.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John Thomas Brown, Sr. and Walter W. Brown, Jr.; her sister, Bertha M. West; and her great-grandson, Gerard L. Woodley, Jr.  

Her legacy lives on through her devoted husband, Paul Thaniel; her four children, Hattie Brown, James L. Carr, Sr. (Vanetta), Shelia Carr, and Alberta Carr-Brady; her brother-in-law, Zachary Thaniel; and her step-son, Paul Thaniel. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Felicia Robinson, Donald Brady, Jr. (Sharee), Jerome Price, Jr. (Shane), Donyetta Smith (Marcus), Leon Carr, Sean McCullough, Gerard L. Woodley, Sr., Raven Fields, James Carr III, Naiya Brady and William Carr; 12 great -grandchldren (Tyriq, Damira, Ariel, Damon, Samara, Travon, Laila, Jaiden, Sir Kaiden, Corel, Lauryn and Sariah), one great-great-granddaughter (Ava), one goddaughter, Celestine Gibson and a host of other family and friends
