Leonard Lee Brogden, the son of the late Catherine and Samuel Cain, was born on February 8, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. Leonard was the oldest of four brothers who all proceeded him in death; Andrew, George & Phillip Brogden. Leonard departed this life on October 1, 2015 at University of Maryland Hospital after fighting a lengthy illness.
Leonard received his education in Baltimore City Public School System. He worked various jobs until he became a professional cutter at Joseph A. Banks clothiers. Leonard worked there for over twenty years until he was unable to work anymore and even after the doctors told him not to work anymore, he wouldn't stop he would just switch occupations. He became a flagger for Poole & Kent Construction Company, where he retired. Leonard always loved politics and became an advocate for his Coldstream Park Community, working with Mary Pat Clarke and others to improve his community.Leonard was a loving generous witty husband, father and grandfather. If he said it, he meant it andthat was that. He loved his wife and children and that went double for his grandkids. He was adored by other children in the neighborhood who affectionately called him pop-pop as well.
He enjoyed his life and took care of his family as a man should. Leonard was baptized at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church by Bishop Leroy Gillard and attended church until he was unable to go anymore. Leonard was a man that didn't mind telling you what was on his mind and expressed himself often and instilled in his children to do the same. His favorite line was THAT'S IT. And THAT'S ALL!
Leonard leaves tio cherish his memory: his wife of 43 years Olivia Brogden and his four children, Kim Thompson, Sharonda D. Thompson, Edward E. Brogden and Crystal L. Brogden; also Marquita Thompson(granddaughter) he raised as his own child. Leonard loved and cared for his eight grandkids, Marquita, Jermika, Jerrika, Shaquera, Jasmine Cache Terrance and Denver(grandpop buddies) as he called all his grandsons. Fortunately he was blessed to sit and meet four great-grandkids, Jimmy, Hailey, Julian and Zyion; two aunts Edna Bennett and the late Nora Evan and special cousin, Rosalie Powell whom both proceeded him in death. Two son-in-laws he really was fond of Terrance Lewis Sr. and Quentin McCready and Quentin Bell (Roy) a host of cousins, friends and community family.
