Lavinia Swann, affectionately known as “Lou” was born March 15, 1934 in Baltimore, MD to the late Nannie Sue and Hezekiah Swann. She departed this life on May 7, 2024 after lengthy illness.
She received her education from the Baltimore City School system.
Lou worked as a Domestic Worker for many years for the Kosher family and the Buedel family. She was considered family after helping to raise their kids.
Lou made numerous friends but if she didn’t like you she would definitely let you know, because she didn’t bite her tongue to let you know how she feels.
She enjoyed family trips to Outdoor World Campground in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Williamsburg, Virginia, Deep Creek, Maryland and Pocono Mountains and spending quality time with her family. She was always the life of the party, that’s why her niece Sharon named her Mama Coochie. She also enjoyed just sitting alone listening to music and watching westerns.
She always said give her, her flowers while she can smell them before she closes her BIG blue eyes.
She had a special bond with her daughter Tammy and loved going to happy hour and other events until her health prevented her from doing so. She loved cooking for her family and made the best homemade rolls, cakes and spaghetti. She loved talking about her imaginary relationships with athletes and celebrities, especially Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens.
Lou was preceded in death by her sons Gregory Swann, Maurice Swann and Joseph Swann.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter Tammy Swann, three sisters: Christine Doles, Gertrude Swann and Nancy Swann, one brother: Wiley Swann, granddaughter: Sheria Swann, grandson: Joseph Swann Jr., great-granddaughters: Shy’Lin and Cheala, great-grandson: Clarence “ManMan” Childs (proceeded in death), great-great grandson: Eleven and a hot of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
