Laura M Richards

LAURA MYRTLE RICHARDS was born March 29, 1936 in Person County N.C. to the late Mary Abbott and Cornwallis Jeffers. Laura was the youngest of six children born of this union. Laura was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 29, 2025.

She relocated from North Carolina to Baltimore, MD at an early age. Laura was faithful and a active member of Faith Baptist Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed singing and praising the Lord so much that she joined the Simon Williamson Memorial Choir, Laura graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School before attending nursing school. She became a Registered nurse and worked in her field at Francis Scott Key Hospital which is now Bayview Medical Center for 49 years.

She met and married the late Herbert R. Richards, 1957 in Baltimore Md. Laura enjoyed traveling the world and going to The Oliver Center where she participated in community events with the seniors. She had a philanthropic spirit and was always giving her love for family and friends, offering advice and guidance to the young. 

She surely will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Laura is preceded in death by her husband  Herbert Richards, two brothers; Thomas Jeffers, Clyce Jeffers, three sisters; Penolia Edwards, Naartie Parker, Verzell Williamson.

She leaves to cherish her legacy; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Her special friends will never be forgotten; Tillie Cameron, Julie Scott, Rosita Dorsey, Gregory Wallace, and a special cousin; Thelma Lewis.
