A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and loving son, peacefully entered eternal rest on September 8, 2025. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, hard work and service to others. A proud graduate of the Patterson High School class of 1992, where he played football, baseball and basketball. Kennard was very proud of his athletic career while Football was his passion, he made sure we all knew he made "All Metro Baseball" and of course he beat Dunbar High School which was a household rivalry between him and his wife as she was a Dunbar alumni.
He met the love of his life, Stacie Pugh, and they built a marriage grounded in love, respect, and partnership. Together they created a family of 3 wonderful children that became the center of his world. Those who knew him best also knew that where you saw Kennard, Stacie was never far behind. The two shared a bond like yin and yang-different, yet perfectly matched and always together in love and laughter.
Kennard had a personal relationship with Christ that was instilled in him from his early childhood years at Open Bible Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late Pastor Ernest Flowers. Continuing his walk with Christ he later joined the Mt. Calvary Church & Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Robert Farrow, where he served as the "Church Chef" and member of the Pastors Aide ministry.
His passion for cooking extended far beyond his profession. Kennard combined his love for both coaching and cooking creating "Coach's Kitchen" where he catered numerous events. His gift allowed him to work as a cook at Johns Hopkins Hospital for over 25 years and Univ. of MD Harford Memorial Hospital for 5yrs. He later joined Shored Up Solutions Security alongside his cousin Ofc. Tavon Mitchell where he currently severed until his sudden passing.
Kennard also shared his heart and energy with the community. A proud member of OCEC serving the youth in the Oliver and surrounding communities during Summer Camps, Back to School Events and feeding the community during Holiday Events. He loved coaching football, guiding and encouraging young men both on and off the field. His coaching experience allowed him to coach at his Alma Mata Patterson High School, Overlea Rec, Perry Hall Rec and Shut Down Travel Teams where he traveled to Atlanta, Ga with his team to win the National Championship against the legend Deion Sanders Youth Football Team. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he made countless memories with them, whether cheering from the sidelines, sharing a laugh or passing down his wisdom.
He enjoyed bowling with his team, " Show Stoppers" and the entire Growing Family Bowling League, singing his "Dru Hill" classics, playing spades and often had those around him in stitches with his Bernie Mac impersonations. Traveling to Deep Creek Lake with family and friends was one of his favorite traditions, where true to form he made sure everyone was well-fed and happy. Kennard was a true hometown Sports fan of both the Ravens & Orioles. Football season you could always count on a good meal and fun with family and friends.
Family was always at the center of his life. In addition to being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he played a special role in helping to raise his nieces and nephews, always giving them love, guidance and encouragement. He shared a close bond with Nicole (Marco) Brown and Bennie (Jawana) Myrick, Anthony Harrison, Chante Pinkney, Naldese Green, Robert Boston, Torrance (Wanda) Allen, Michael (Brenda) Greene and extended family Brock Veal, Lamont Cousins, Ricky (Jeanine) Ratliff, Frank Hardin, Evelyn Woodard and Sidney White.
Though he has left this earthly home, he is reunited with loved ones who went before him, his Grandparents; Odell & Gladys Cox, John & Lucy Pugh a special aunt in which he cherished Lucy Pugh, Godmother Estelle Boston, Cousin/Brother, Kevin Cox and devoted friend/brother Otto Beverly.
