JOSEPH FAY EADDY, son of the late John B. Eaddy and the late Lula Idell Eaddy, was born on August 22, 1933 in Florence County, South Carolina.
Joseph, affectionately known to many as "Joe" and "Bubba", grew up in Florence County, South Carolina where he attended Wilson High School-Class of 1951. In 1954, he relocated to Baltimore Maryland, where soon after he gained employment and began his career at Bethlehem Steel, Sparrows Point. Joe retired after 40 years of service in 1996.
In 1955, Joe met a young lady by the name of Shirley, who became the love of his life. After a courtship, they were united in Holy Matrimony on October 26, 1957. Their union was blessed with two children, daughter Ellen and son Jeffrey.
Joe accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a very young age. After relocating to Baltimore, he was baptized on January 4, 1959 at the Israel Baptist Church by the late Rev. Dr. Edmond D. Meade, Sr. He served as a devoted and committed disciple, attending Sunday worship services until his health no longer allowed him to do so. Joe had a melodious bass voice and with his God given talent, he participated on the Men's Choir and sang the solo to the classic hymn, "God Specializes". He served as Chairman of the Trustees where he was very committed of taking care of the business of the church, Treasurer of the Finance Committee and was ordained a Deacon on January 16, 2000.
Traveling was one of Joe's favorite things to do. Rather it was cruising the seas, flying or driving across country. It would be nothing for Joe just to get up at any given time to drive home to Florence, South Carolina to visit family. Joe was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed all sports including going fishing and watching baseball games. He shared a special bond with his eldest great-grandson as he followed in his grandfather's footsteps to become an athlete. Joe was also known for being smooth and debonair and took great pride in being a sharp dresser. He was a Cadillac man, often purchasing brand new Cadillacs as a hobby. Joe had a passion for cooking. He would prepare holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas. He loved to entertain with his cooking, whether for the holidays, having fish-frys after catching the fish, or backyard barbeques as he took on the title of Master Chef of the Grill. Another pastime of his was watching the old time classic western movies he never missed a day of watching those!
On Tuesday morning of July 20, 2021, Joseph F. Eaddy was suddenly called to his eternal home, where he has now joined his loved ones who have gone on before. Joe was preceded in death by his parents John and Idell Eaddy, his wife Shirley B. Eaddy, three brothers, Nathaniel, Joe and Solomon and three sisters Beatrice, Rosalie and Gloria. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
