JOHNNIE CHARLES CLINTON, 75, passed away on June 16, 2024, in Baltimore, Maryland. Johnnie was born the youngest son of seven children to Louise and Charles Clinton in Detroit, Michigan on May 16, 1949.

When Johnnie was young, the family moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he attended Dunbar Senior High School. While there, Johnnie followed in his father's footsteps and began boxing. Shortly after leaving school, he joined the Army

During his time in the Army, Johnnie did multiple tours in Vietnam. He wrote home often describing the events that had unfolded in front of him. The military also afforded him the opportunity to visit several countries and a few exotic places. If asked, Johnnie would tell you that the military made him a disciplined man and prepared him for his future. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Johnnie attended what was known then as the Community College of Baltimore, the University of Maryland and Coppin State College.

While attending college, Johnnie met, fell in love, and married Alfreda. From that union came "his girls," Terrell, Sanata, and Shantae. Later, his only son, Devin, was born.

He gained employment with the Department of Education, under the Security Division. Johnnie worked at several different Baltimore City Public Schools as security and was known for his outgoing personality and his ability to connect with the students. He was always willing to share a story or experience to help guide students in the right direction.

Johnnie spent many years serving his community, especially helping the youth become better citizens. His passion for his community led him to run for the House of Delegates where he was defeated by a mere 120 votes. That did not stop Johnnie from serving his community as he remained a part of several initiatives geared towards improving the health and welfare of his community.

If you knew Johnnie, you heard many of his colorful stories as he was not too shy to share. He talked for hours about his family and their accomplishments, his life when he was young, and his dreams. Johnnie was laidback and would help you if he could, but you knew when you were asking for just too much.

Johnnie found solace in collecting antiques, coins, dolls and vinyl records. He loved spending time with his family and close friends just drinking and catching up. Johnnie was loved and treasured by many and will be sorely missed.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Louise, son Devin, grandson Walter, brothers William and Walter, sister Joan, companion Terri and best friend Charles.

He is survived by siblings Maggie Mae, Ann and Sharron; his girls; Terrell (Willis), Sanata and Shantae (Damond). His grandchildren whom he loved with his whole heart; Dontae, Gavin, LaFawn, Breone, Kori, Kyrie, Devin Jr., DeMari and Divinity; great grands, LaFawn III, Dujuan Jr., LaDonna, Noelle and Keno Jr., as well as a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
