John F Hunter

John Frank Hunter was born on March 21, 1931, in Vance County, NC to the late Joe and Sylvester (Jones) Hunter. When John was 2 the family moved to Baltimore, MD and he was educated in Baltimore City Public schools. He was a proud East Baltimorean. John Frank, as he was affectionately known was an Arabber in Baltimore City for many years, calling out his fruits and vegetables in his distinctive baritone voice. He worked decades in the construction industry as a bricklayer and retired from the Baltimore City Department of Public Works as a supervisor in 1996.

He was an avid tv watcher, he was especially fond of westerns, Court TV, News Commentaries and a variety of sports especially the NBA. He rarely left home without a hat and a collared shirt - he was a frequent customer of the city's hatters and habadasharies. Most of all he delighted in spending time with his family and friends telling stories of his kin and East Baltimore.

Until Covid 19 and subsequent illness John enjoyed attending Southern Baptist for many years with his family.

John was predeceased by his parents, his siblings: Rosalee, Arlene, Gould and Walter, his daughter Romona Pena, grandson John Andre and the love of his life, his wife Romona.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Delores "Peedie" Williams. Daughters: Darlene, Bernadette, Frances and Charlette. Seven grandchildren: Annette, Andre, Avery, Ebony, Rona, Kisca, and Rahkeem. Fourteen Great-Grandchildren: Montinique, Qieron, Zenia, Andre, Inez, Anfernee "AJ", Adrianne, Myles, Aiyana, Akira, Kaitlyn "LaLa", Xavier, Tyson and Athena. Five Great Great-granchildren: Omari, Mehki, Luke, Jackson and Jauwan.  Devoted Friend: John Harvey and a host of other family and friends.
