John T. Fews

JOHN THOMAS FEWS, son of the late Rev. Hammond E. Fews and Ella Fews. Was born December 20, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on September 13, 2024, due to a lengthy illness, John received the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age, being that his father was a Pastor of Cannon Baptist Church. John's illness and resulting disabilities did not deter his friendly persona, genuine caring heart and overall smile and warmth. He greeted everyone with his beautiful smile, and his courageous spirit no matter what challenges he faced, he was loved by so many, and will be sorely missed.

John spent his educational years attending the Baltimore City Public School System. At age 18 John began to work for the United States Postal Service where he didicated many years. Where he later met Kathy Molock, through her father Cornell Molock, they both were working at the Highlandtown Post Office, they began dating and they were married on September 29th 1984, from this union Shadawnna Nisha Fews was born. John also worked part-time jobs with his in-laws Cornell and Thelma Molock, but due to an injury which caused John to retire early in 1990.

Family was the cornerstone of John's life. He was a beloved husband, a devoted father and grandfather, his personality was marked by his fun-loving and hard working nature and his BIG appetite for good food. John was deeply involved in his community and his faith, he was an active member of several churches, including Canaan Baptist, New Shiloh Baptist and Central Church of Christ. His commitment to his faith and community was evident to his church attendance. John was an outgoing sports fan, Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles keeping scores was just another one of his passions, going to the games when he could, with Chanell (niece) and John (nephew-in-law) he enjoyed so much.

John was preceded in death by both his parents, Rev. Hammond E Fews Sr, and Ella Fews,; brother, Hammond E. Fews Jr; sisters, Rosetta Wingo and Brenda Murel Willouhgby; niece, Paula Murel.

He leaves to cherish his wife Kathy L. Fews; daughter, Shadawnna N. Fews-McCoy; 4 grandchildren, Nevaeh A. Fews, Logan Cornell Thomas Fews, Kyliee M. Fews-McCoy and Kristian M. Fews- McCoy, Kevin McCoy (son-in-law); Barbara Fews (sister in law); nieces, April Meredith, Chanel Torsell, Kelli Wingo, Shawnette Fews, John Torsell and Malcolm Meredith (nephew in law); nephews, Reverend Alphonso Tucker and Emanuel Tucker; aunt, Nancy Blake and uncle, Sylvester Molock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
