Joey Jennings slipped into eternal rest on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Born on September 18,1987, to Deborah Adams and Joseph Jennings Sr., Joey was the youngest sibling, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend.

Joey grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was known as a happy and joyful child with a stubborn streak that would later give way to his easygoing and laid back nature as an adult. He graduated from Digital Harbor High School, where he played football and formed friendships that would last a lifetime.

Joey dedicated over 15 years of service to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he worked in various roles. To many, he was more than a coworker, he was family. Since his passing, countless colleagues have shared how Joey made them feel special, always offering a warm smile, a kind word, or one of his famously terrible “dad jokes” some of which were actually pretty funny. His presence brought light to the halls and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

At the age of 11, Joey began attending New Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church, where his faith and involvement continued to grow throughout his life. What started as attending Sunday services blossomed into active participation in church life, eventually becoming a Deacon. New Bethlehem became Joey’s second home, and its members his extended family. He had a special love for working with the youth, from toddlers to teenagers, always encouraging them with patience, humor, and kindness. Joey took great pride in seeing his son, JJ, actively involved in the church, knowing he was leading by example and guiding him in faith and community.

Joey was a man who made everyone feel welcome. With his big, bright smile and easygoing spirit, he was someone people gravitated toward. He was kind, generous, and full of joy. He loved cooking, listening to old-school music (no trap music, as he would say), dancing, and playing spades. Above all, Joey was a devoted father and a positive role model to his son, JJ, whom he loved deeply.

Joey was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Jennings Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Deborah Adams; his son, Joey Jennings Jr. (JJ); his siblings, Ebby, Jermaine, Dawayne, Todd, Joseph Jr., John, and Ronald; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers, and church family who will forever hold him in their hearts.
