Joe Ann King-McQuaige joyfully entered eternal glory and rest with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 7, 2024, at her home peacefully. She was born on January 28th, 1956, in Baltimore, Md to the late Henry L. King and Lillian Bryant. She was the second child of their union and the 10th of 12 children. (Al James Whichard, Booker T. Hall, Hortense Meek, Bernice Hall, Leroy King, and Sylvester King) who presided in death.
Joe Ann grew up in Baltimore City and was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in 1975. She went on to earn her A. A. degree at Baltimore Community College of Baltimore in 1990, her Bachelor of Arts in Human Growth and Development at Sojourner-Douglass College in 2008 and her Master of Biblical Studies with Honors at Chesapeake Bible & Seminary College in 2017.
While at Sojourner Douglass College, Joe Ann became a member of the proud Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Alpha Zeta Chapter in Baltimore, Maryland, where she joined the McQuaige family legacy.
Joe Ann retired from the Internal Revenue Services Department in 2021, with thirty-four years of honorary service. Joe Ann’s Christian life was deeply embedded in her unwavering faith in her God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Joe Ann did not only believe and read the Holy Word of God, she lived it! She was a faithful member of New Creation Christian Church, were she served on the usher’s board with her best friend Annis Wade and also danced on the dance ministry. She loved crafting, writing poetry, studying her bible and spending time with family. Joe Ann loved praising God, being his servant but most importantly being Nana. She loved her grandchildren and gave them each a nickname Sweetpea, Sister and Kitten. One of Joe Ann’s favorite phrases was “When the praises go up, the blessings come down”.
Joe Ann leaves to mourn her loving husband Elmer “Jesse” McQuaige, two loving daughters; Leah and Ariel Harris, three granddaughters; Jordan and Jadon Ewing, Lyric Moore, one sister; Lossie Marie Brown, one God-given sister; Lorraine Wells (Charles Wells), three sisters-in-law; Doris Duncan, Patricia McQuaige, Carolyn Howard, one brother; Henry J. King, one God-given brother; Milford Johnson (Sharlene Johnson), a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
