Joann M Moody

JOANN MARIE MOODY, affectionately known as "Granny", was born on September 28, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland to Ethel Lee and Ward Lowery (both preceded her in death). On Friday, November 24, 2023, Joann unexpectedly gained her wings at the tender age of 72.

In the 1970's she married Charles Moody and from that union, two children were born (Charles and Stacy). Joann accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she was a devoted member. She was a down-to-earth type person and would tell you like it is (hurtful or not). She loved her family, and she enjoyed spending time with them.

Joann was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools but had to stop attending prior to graduating. She later returned as an adult and received her GED from Sojourner Douglass College and took a few college classes there as well.

Joann worked several jobs prior to her retirement to include Peggy's Eastside Cleaners, Stouffers Hotel, Tremont Plaza Hotel (now Embassy Suites) and Tremont Grande.

Joann is survived by her four children; Charles Moody, Jr. (Sheila Baker), Stacy Moody-Keel (Tommy Keel, Jr.), Theresa Thomas and Charles Thomas (Shonte Thomas); eight grandchildren, Darrius, Antonio, Joshua, Mackenzie, Tyshiana, Jaylin, Khamari and Darryon; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Tanga Shenay Prettiman (CA), Kim L. Lowery (MD) and two brothers, Dennis R. Lowery (NC) and Stevan Lowery (MD); a very close and dear friend, Michelle Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by two brothers (Gregory Lowery and Richard Griffin) and two sisters (Geraldine Brooks and Valerie Brown).
