Jerome B. Mcarthur

JEROME BENJAMAIN MCARTHUR, was born on May 31, 1934, to the late Henry and Lula McArthur. He departed this life on April 6, 2025. Jerome was the last child born out of the six siblings.

Jerome received his early education from the Baltimore City Public School System. He graduated from the very prestigious Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School. During his time in high school, Jerome received a varsity letter in football, basketball and baseball. After high school Jerome attended Morgan State University, where he continued to pursue football and was First Team All CIAA. Jerome also participated in inter-mural athletics.

Upon leaving Morgan State University Jerome tried out for two NFL teams. After his professional football career ended. Jerome continued to remain physically active playing flag football for the Poets Club. Alongside his continuous pursuit of athletics Jerome began to undertake other professional endeavors.

Jerome worked for the Maryland Transit Authority he began working as a Physical Education Teacher for the Department of Juvenile Justice, there he would meet and marry the love of his life, Charmaine Butler.

Jerome also had a robust family life outside of work and athletics. Jerome produced two sons: Jerome L. McArthur (first wife; Eloise McArthur) and Jerome B. McArthur Jr. (mother; Deborah Wilson), and helped raise his stepson, Phillip Turner.

Jerome was preceded in death by his wife Charmaine Butler-McArthur; father Henry and his mother Lula McArthur, two sisters, Eather Mae Williams and Anne Wesley; and two brothers, Sandy and James McArthur.

Jerome leaves to mourn three sons, Jerome L. McArthur, Jerome B. McArthur Jr. (Ebony) and Phillip Turner; two grandsons, Mhonte Newsome and Maurtice McArthur; two granddaughters, Jewellz and Jordyn McArthur; one very special nephew, Lewis Johnson Jr.. and a host of other family and friends to cherish his memory.
