JEROME T. HEATH was born on October 6, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Lillie Minter and John Heath. After living a long, good life of 90 years, Jerome went peacefully to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness while resting in the comfort of his bed at home. During his time of sickness, Jerome continued to have a joyful, humorous spirit that kept on shining. He spread his infectious joy right up until several days before he transitioned.
In his earlier years, Jerome was educated at Dunbar High School, located in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a well-devoted husband who was married for 67 years to his beloved wife, Ruth E. Heath. They united in 1951 and were married until her passing in December 2018. He took excellent care of his wife up until her very last day.
Jerome was always a hard-working and devoted father who was an excellent provider for his family. He was one of the best fathers ever known. He gave his life to Christ at a very young age and was previously a member at Memorial Baptist Church located in Baltimore. In his early years, he was employed at Western Union. In 1955, he became a Crane Operator at Bethlehem Steel located in Sparrows Point, Maryland. He worked there for over 40 years until he retired.
Jerome was also known as Jazz, which most people knew him by. He loved music, especially jazz music and was a very jazzy man. He was known for making everyone laugh with his great sense of humor and told some of the funniest stories and the best jokes ever! One of his favorite sayings was, " I do the jokes!" To know Jazz was to love him because he was a peaceful man.
He always had the best of everything and was one of the first to have them. He also loved watching television, especially his western movies and enjoyed watching You Tube. He was a great cook and a great dancer. Finally, he loved his three dogs, Princess, Piper and Eggnog, because they brought so much joy to his days. They were known as the good, the bad and the ugly.
Jerome was preceded in death by both of his parents, Lillie and John Heath. His beloved wife of 67 years, Ruth E. Heath, his son, Glen D. Heath, his sister Helen Jones and his brother, Willie Smith.
Jerome also leaves to mourn his beloved children, his daughters, Evelyn Grant, Yvonne Lewis and Renita Young. His sons, John Randy Heath and Tyrone Heath; one stepdaughter, Deborah Nash; one son-in-law, Paul Young and two daughters-in-law, Shania Heath and Deborah Heath; 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved. Jerome's life will be forever cherished!!
