As the son to the late Isabelle and Jerkins Ellis Elam Sr., I ,Jerkins Ellis Elam, Jr. has been called from labor to rest to join them. I have been a loving husband to my beautiful wife Yolanda Nixon Elam and have dedicated myself to the trucking business for over 50 years. I was blessed to share my life’s journey with all those whom I loved. It was the kindness, the laughter, and the unwavering love that touched my heart every day that kept me going. Hopefully I taught my family the meaning of compassion, the strength of unity, and the joy found in simple moments together.
Although they may feel the ache of my absence, I hope that they carry forward the lessons I lived by - to love without condition, to forgive quickly, and to cherish each day. I have created my own happiness and have not waited for others to give it to me; I have worked to provide for my family, I have built and I have hopefully made my family proud. I hope that my impact on the community was just as great! I do not go with regret, and I do not wish for more time because God knew just how much time was needed. To my children, my brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, family and friends; thank you for taking this journey with me. You all hold a special place in my heart. I will love you always! I may be gone but I know that I will never ever be forgotten… Lovingly Submitted, Peanut.
