Jannie B. Boyd was born on May 26, 1925 in Winnsboro, South Carolina to the late Sam and Sara Brown. Growing up Jannie loved going to church and became a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was united in matrimony with John Boyd and together they relocated to Baltimore, Maryland to start their family. Along this new journey in Baltimore John and Jannie decided to join the New Friendship Baptist Church. Jannie always had a huge heart and loved to be around her family and friends, sitting outside on a nice day, and working on her crossword puzzles and word search books.
Jannie worked for the Baltimore City Public Schools system for a brief period which allowed her to focus on caring for people. Her passion was caring for not only her family but many people in the neighborhood. Jannie loved cooking, cleaning, and planting her flowers. She always made herself available to help others.
“Bell”, as she was affectionately called by her siblings, was preceded in death by her husband John Boyd, her siblings: Roosevelt Brown, Hazel Brown, Buster Brown, Jim Brown, Wallace Brown, Sam Brown, Robert Brown, Isaac Brown, Louise Woodard, and Sallie Stewart, her son: Willie Boyd Sr., and granddaughter Janice Boyd.
Jannie leaves to cherish her precious memory: her 6 children, Wylie (Kate); John (Deborah); David; Jessie; and Lorie (Kevin); 13 grandchildren, Tammie (Vernon); Wylie Jr. (Tiffany); Brian Sr. (Brandy); Leslie; Willie Jr.; Tandria; Jacqueline; Ariel; Ariana; Demetria (Cory Sr.); Kevin Jr.; and Kenneth; 2 embraced grandchildren, Kenyon (Patrice); and Christopher; 27 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Sarah Gibbs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones.
