Listen to Obituary

James W. Robinson Jr. son of James Robinson and Grace Lockett Robinson (both preceded in death); born October 21, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland, went to Glory on April 27, 2021 at 2:41 pm. He was the oldest of eight children, and was preceded in death by four brothers Emanuel, Mark, Ludivic and Marcell.

James affectionately known as Squeekie, Pop Pop and Uncle Squeekie and Mr. Squeekie was educated in Baltimore Public Schools. He graduated from City College and later enlisted in the United States Navy.

Upon returning from the Navy, he worked several jobs and sought a longtime employment history with Bethlehem Steel Sparrows Point, Maryland. He worked there from 1974 to retirement in February 2012.

He was proud of his near perfect attendance record. He was a dedicated, loyal employee and team player.

After retirement, he found joy in caregiving for his daughter with multiple sclerosis; attending soccer games and building snowmen with his granddaughter, helping her study for math tests, and always encouraging her to do her best. He particularly enjoyed helping others no matter how large or small the job. Sitting and watching MeTV with his cat Oreo was his favorite pastime.

James (Squeekie) married Ingrid, and from that union they have two daughters, Ingrid and Tracey; two granddaughters, Makayla and Stacey; and nine great grandchildren.

In 1978 James met an old childhood friend who became the love of his life “Mae”, whom he later married in 1994. They were baptized at New Shiloh Baptist Church in 1983. From this union, they have three daughters Latonya (Joseph), Lavenia and Litarsha; three grandchildren, Davin, Lakiyah, and Janiya; and one great granddaughter, Haiden.

He loved helping others, always smiling with a kind word; he loved dressing “known as GQ”, looking and smelling good, and never left the house without a shower. He never owned a pair of tennis shoes and enjoyed playing the lottery. His wife referred to the lottery as investments with little returns. He loved reading the newspaper (front-to-back), completing unscrambled crossword puzzles; and he was a prolific writer.

Squeekie, was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be fondly missed and remembered by Rosa - his friend, companion and wife for more than 43 years; loving and caring stepmother Christobel, affectionately known as Sissy; Aunt Viola, his five daughters and three grandchildren; devoted sisters, Donna and Delgea; brothers, Edward and Constantino; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; especially one loyal and dedicated friend Jimmy Cox, remembering the fist-bump and smile on Squeekie’s face when each day Jimmy came to visit they would say “My Nigga”
