James "Jimmy" M. Robinson Jr.

JAMES “JIMMY” MCKINLEY ROBINSON, JR., son of the late James and Queen Robinson, was born on May 4, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on May 10, 2018 after a lengthy illness.

He received his education from the Baltimore City Public School System, and after high school he enlisted in the United States Army. Jimmy was honorably discharged after four years of service but continued his military career with the United States Army Reserves until 1979. Upon completion of the military he went on to Morgan State College for several semesters, but left to work for Bethlehem Steel for over ten years. His final place of employment was the United States Postal Service, where he was employed from 2003 until April 2018.

Jimmy met and fell in love with the beautiful Vernell Forest and from that love his one and only child James M. Robinson III was born. If you knew Jimmy, you knew he was an intelligent man. He knew the history of everything, especially sports, which was a passion for him and whatever season it was, that was his sport. Jimmy was a talker and would talk to you for hours on end if you let him.

Jimmy loved music, good food and a great party. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, James M. Robinson III; his sisters, Elvera Pauley and Adrienne Fields; aunts, Amanda, Lillian, Ruth and Pauline; uncle, Preston; nieces, Nichole Robinson-Johnson (Devin), Angela Robinson, Tashaya Fields, Chole Whitney and Teonna Kennedy; nephews, Marcus Gaines; great-niece, Alyshia Goodson; three great friends since childhood, Gary Brooks, Errol Hurtt and Lawrence Vaughn; and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding James in death are his mother, Queen E. Robinson; father, James M. Robinson Sr.; two sisters, Joyce and Diana Robinson; and brother, Mack McConnell.
