Listen to Obituary

James Edward Lewis, affectionately known as “Jimmy”, son of

the late Clevis Gamble and Jack Lewis Sr., was born on February

22, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland. Sadly and unexpected, Jimmy

departed this life and was called to eternal rest on August 4, 2017.

Jimmy, a native of Baltimore, was educated in the Baltimore City

School System. At an early age, he was employed with Baltimore

City, then employed at Flannigan & Sons for many years

before moving on to work as a Long Shore man, at Local 333 in

Baltimore, Maryland.

For many years Jimmy and Glynda dated, until he asked for her

hand in marriage on August 10, 1991 at which time they were

joined in holy matrimony. They were best friends and soul mates.

Through ups and downs, highs and lows, they fulfilled the promise

they made to God “until death do us part”.

Jimmy touched the lives of many people with his smile and

generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the

way to the end. Jimmy was a family oriented man, who enjoyed

quality time with his family especially during holidays and family

gatherings. Jimmy loved watching westerns, listening to oldies but

goodies, playing cards and shooting dice. He was outspoken and

didn’t have a problem with keeping it real. Jimmy enjoyed hacking

and hauling loads for friends and family. Jimmy was a father

to so many and was well respected in the streets of Baltimore.

Rest assure you could go anywhere and feel safe with Jimmy.

Jimmy was preceded in death by son Darian Brown, mother

Clevis Gamble, father Jack Lewis Sr., brother Jack Lewis Jr, sister

Joquetta Parker and sister-in –law Angie Chapman.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife,

Glynda, son, James (Jay), daughter, Stacy, five grandchildren,

Daniel, Chanel, Devon, Devin and Dillon, one great grandson,

Ahmir, three aunts, Nova Curley, Doris Adams and Lurl Johnson,

uncle, Edward Lee(Doris Lee), special nephew, Joseph (Jody),

mother-in- law, Joyce Giddins, four sister-in –laws, Kim, Deborah,

Terry ,Towanda and Krystal, daughter-in- law, LaKisha,

son-in- law ,Damon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and

friends.

Jimmy will always remain in our hearts and will be truly missed.
