James Edward Johnson, son of the late Herman and Lilly Johnson, was born on December 23, 1935 in Roxboro, North Carolina.  “JJ” as he was affectionately known by family and friends, departed this life on Saturday September 22, 2018 after a lengthy illness.

James received his education in the public schools in Roxboro, North Carolina. At the age of 18 years old James moved to Baltimore, Maryland.

James adult life began as being drafted into the United States Army in 1958, he served his country and was Honorably Discharged in 1960 returning to Baltimore, Maryland.

James pursued several jobs in Baltimore until he landed at the General Motors Corporation in Dundalk, Maryland. After years at GM James retires in 1993. In 1989, James met and married the love of his life, Tanga (Tammy) Johnson who honored their vows as his faithful and loving wife until death do they parted.

James was baptized and became a member of The Mount Pleasant Church & Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Clifford Johnson Jr.

If you knew James “JJ” you knew his favorite hobby was working on cars and Motorcycles, loving the beautiful styles of any antique model car. James road his motorcycle laid back in style.

“JJ” treasured his antique 1966 Lipstick Red Nova, his 56th Birthday gift from his wife Tammy.

James “JJ” made a friend everywhere he went, he had a heart of Gold.

James leaves to cherish his fond memory: his devoted and loving wife tammy Johnson; daughters Margaret, Camilla and Paige Johnson, Stephanie (deceased) Gibson, Marlene, Reese; two sons, Ralph and Cedric (CD) of North Carolina, Gary of Baltimore; host of grandchildren, two sisters, Daisy Glover (Robert deceased) of Baltimore, Dorothy Outlaw (Rosevelt deceased) of North Carolina; four brothers, Preston Thompson (Katie deceased) of Jacksonville Florida, John and Sandra Williams of Roxboro, North Carolina, Donny and Sandra Williams of Hurdle Mill, North Carolina, Al and Louise (deceased) Johnson of Baltimore; one aunt, Maggie Taylor of Baltimore; a host of devoted and dedicated nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
