James L. Field Jr.

December 7, 1941 — January 23, 2022

Listen to Obituary

In the morning hours of January 23,2022, God looked over the balcony of glory and saw his servant, James Leonard Fields Jr. An angel was dispatched to him, who spoke softly saying, “Come unto me I will give you eternal rest.” He accepted the call at the age of 80 years young and rose to a higher realm to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ. James Leonard Fields Jr. the son of the late James Leonard Fields Sr. and the late Nannie Moultrie was born December 7, 1941, in Ford, Virginia, Dinwiddie County where he lived until moving to Baltimore, Maryland.  He received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System.  After graduating from Dunbar High School, he worked several years for Baltimore City Bureau of Election; and eventually made his living driving for the Baltimore Sanitation Department (DPW). He gave back to the community through his work as a Sunday School Teacher in Cherry Hill.  During his time in Cherry Hill, James met and developed a special bond with the late, Mary Carr.  His one and only child, Eunice Louise Carr was a product of their bond.  James’ motto was “Family First”.  His “Family First” mindset, motivated him to raise Mary Carr’s other five children as his own.  Anyone who knew James, would not be surprised with this act of love because they knew that he loved having a big family.  James continued to open his heart up to other children and created multiple blended families that loved and respected him. Later in life, James’ heart was drawn to Ms. Linda Hux.  Their love story started one hot summer morning while on one of his routes.  Their love was delayed when she moved back to California where she lived for several years.   During their time a part, when James wasn’t working, he liked to pass his time hanging out with his friends at what he called his “Club Houses”.  You could find him at Ez on Taylor Avenue or Quick Mart on Loch Raven Road.  That all changed when Linda moved back to Baltimore and walked into James’ “club house”, Bobby’s Convenience Store located on Harford Road.  As he would have put it, “It was on and popping”.   The spark between them was rekindled and a few years later they were married on September 23, 2016 creating a loving blended family. James’ legacy will live on.   This task is left in the hands of his wife Linda Fields, four daughters, Eunice L. Carr, Denise Bellany (Charles Bellany), Lanise Smith (Shawn Smith), son, Jr Redmond, brother, Thomas O. Edmonds, sister, Jacquelyn Jenkins, two grandsons, Bryant and Branden Carr, four great grandchildren, Kayion Carr, Branden Carr, Maliah Carr and Monroe Grant,  mother-in-law, Ms. Ethel, two sisters-in-law, Barbra Little and Paula Scott who he affectionally nicknamed Lena, three brothers-in-law and a host of uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
