On October 10, 2022 the world lost a Born Star, James Wesley Brown, who was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System.
Wesley was a performing Star that Shined Soo Bright. As a young man he modeled his performances after James Brown. It was something to see this Born Star doing the camel walk, the mash potato, funky chicken, boogaloo, and the famous split, all while singing. The Born Star was so good at his performances that his parents spent a lot of money to get custom made clothes.
As one of Baltimore City's local performers he was well known as James "Baby" Brown. As a Born Star, Wesley performed at the popular Carr's Beach, Twin Pines and Bill Dotson's. Later in life, the Star joined the New Baltimore Charm City Hand Dancers.
As this Born Star matured with grace, he focused his vocals on gospel music. Wesley was a writer and producer of his songs "I'll Follow Jesus" and "Don't Wait" recorded on Bay West Records. His music could be heard on the local radio stations in the DMV. Passing his legacy on, he left the rights to his music to his grandson, Lamont Brown Jr.
