IVA ESTELLE MCCORMICK (SHORTY), a loving and caring sister, aunt and friend went home to be with the Lord on July 25, 2024. She was born on April 21, 1939 to Preston L. Winkler and Eva Stokes Winkler in Prince Edward County Meherrin, Virginia.
Iva was educated in the public schools of Prince Edward County soon after graduating from Robert Russa Moton High School, she moved to Baltimore Maryland and attended Cortez Peters School of Business. Estelle was employed at General Electric until she later retired.
She was a very generous and loving person, always thinking of others. She would help anyone she could, Estelle was exceptionally gifted and talented in the kitchen. She loved baking cakes, her email was bakingcakes 1@yahoo.com, her 7-up cake was one of her specialties along with cheesecake with fruit toppings. Many have been blessed by the fruit of her hands. She was always there to lend a helping hand and to serve others.
Estelle began her Christian training at Levi Baptist Church in Green Bay, Virginia at a very early age. She later joined New Life Fellowship Church in Windsor Mill, Maryland where she sang on the Church Choir, and loved baking delicious cakes for events. She was the

She later joined New Life Fellowship Church in Windsor Mill, Maryland where she sang on the church choir and loved baking delicious cakes for events. She was the children's church teacher in her church. She loved the Lord, she also would gather her neighbors in her apartment building for prayers and Bible Study and was always there to lend a helping hand to the sick and the elderly. Estelle also worked as a member on the board of Aunt Hattie;s Place (AHP) a nonprofit home for abused foster boys with special educational needs. She played a pivotal role in the success and growth of the deserving young men founded in 1997 by Dr. Hattie N. Washington.
Estelle leaves to cherish her loving memory her three sisters Eva Juanita McCormick (George McCormick), Joyce Madison (Roger Madison) and Arlene Thompson (Darryl Thompson); two brothers Carlyle Winkler (Cindy Winkler) and Dennis Ausar Winkler (Angela Winkler). She had no children of her own but always said the Lord blessed her with Alphonso Miller, Marcus Miller and Sherrie Miller as her own children and a loving goddaughter Carolyn Woods along with a host of nieces, nephew, loved ones and friends. Estelle was 1 of 21 children where 16 of her siblings preceded her in death.
