Irene Thelma Jordan, affectionately known as "Missy" was born on June 28, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Alice Matilda Jordan and Charles B. Jordan, Sr. She was the fourth born of eight children. On January 21, 2016, after a tenacious battle with a lengthy illness, as the sun began to set over the horizon, God's angel gently raised upright and called upon her Savior as she softly whispered the Lord's Prayer; and God heard Missy's gentle whisper, extended His loving hand and guided her peacefully through the pearly gates of heaven where she will have Eternal life in His kingdom.
Irene accepted Christ at an early age and would attend church with her parents and siblings as a child.
Irene was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and earned her high school diploma from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1967.
After graduating high school, she began working as a seamstress. Later, Irene became employed as a box office attendant at the Apollo Theater in Baltimore. After several years at the theater, Irene steadfast her career and started employment at the world renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She worked as an Assistant Cook and Cold Food Processor in the Department of Nutrition. Irene was a hardworking, diligent and dependable worker who went above and beyond to complete EVERY task assigned. She enjoyed helping others and working as a team; some of her colleagues had become her closest friends. Her work ethic exemplified the true meaning of passion, willpower and the drive to make a difference. Irene retired from Johns Hopkins, after 27 years of dedicated service and commitment.
Irene's personality was a woman of great strength, courage, determination, sacrifice and commitment. She embodied a spirit of unselfishness, authentic love and tremendous generosity. She asked nothing of anyone and gave so much of herself.
