Herman James Gadson, son of the late Andrew and Pearlene Morrison Gadson was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 4, 1943. After the passing of his mother at a very young age, his father returned to South Carolina, remarried and started a family. His Uncle Robby Morrison, his mother’s brother, told her he and his brothers would take care of her children (Vera the oldest), Cora and Herman the baby. So the brothers got together and each one took a child, raised and provided for them as their very own. Uncle H, as everyone called him, wanted the boy (Herman). He was brought up in a family that went to church and worshipped the Lord.
He accepted Christ during his early life. He joined the Southern Baptist Church serving in many capacities such as singing on the Youth Choir, Ushering and teaching Sunday School to Adults which he truly enjoyed. He was a dedicated and devoted member.
