HELEN H. JACKSON, daughter of the late Harrison Hutt and Ella Mae Harmon-Hutt, was born on May 27, 1931 in Salisbury, Maryland. She departed this life after a brief illness on December 11, 2015.
Helen received her education in the Salisbury School System. She graduated in 1948 from Salisbury High School where she played basketball and later became a member of the Alumni Association.
After graduating from high school, Helen moved to Baltimore and attended Cortez Peters Business School. It was also in Baltimore where she met her soul mate, Norman Jackson Jr. who preceded her in death in 2003. Helen and Norman were married on January 14, 1952. From this union two children were born, Norman III (who preceded her in death in 2010) and Carla Lynn who was her caretaker.
Helen was employed by A.D. Anderson when it was located in Edmondson Village. She left there to begin a career as a Baltimore City Crossing Guard. She performed that duty for thirty years at Lyndhurst Elementary School. During her career, Helen has safely helped children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of families across the street. She also participated in activites at the school.
Helen was also employed by Varsity Cleaners and she worked as a housemother on weekends at Morgan State University.
Helen's hobbies were traveling, playing cards and sports. She also loved the Orioles.
She received Jesus as her savior at an early age. She was a member of Unity United Methodist Church until five years ago. There she was an usher, member of the bible study and member of the Methodist Women. She started attending St. Bernardine after the death of her son.
Helen leaves to mourn: one daughter, Carla Lynn; daughter-in-law, LaCretia; adopted daughters, Ursula White and Carla Pennsinger; adopted granddaughter, Brittany Swee; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
