Listen to Obituary

Gregory Edmond Cabean, Jr. was a son, husband, father, brother, and a friend to many. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on June 22, 1981 to Gregory Sr. and Evelyn Campbell.

“Greg,” as he is known to family and friends, was educated in the Baltimore City public school system. He graduated from Patterson Senior High School in 2000. He attended Baltimore City Community College where he studied physical therapy. Greg worked at the Baltimore City Department of General Services where he served the citizens of Baltimore City for 18 years.

On August 5, 2019 he married the love of his life, Dakia Cabean. Greg loved his wife. He took great pride in their relationship. Together they established a beautiful legacy of love and understanding rooted in “The Cabean Way.” Greg loved his children. He was an intentional parent who recognized their gifts, understood their needs, and provided diligent guidance to ensure they had the best path forward. He was happy about the life he created with and for his family.

Greg enjoyed sports. He was a big fan of the Ravens and the Maryland Terps basketball team. While in high school, he played football with the Patterson Clippers. He continued to support that organization throughout his life. He liked watching and attending wrestling matches. Japanese anime was his guilty pleasure. Greg loved music, philosophizing, and debating whether Kobe or Lebron should hold the G.O.A.T. title. He loved to travel with his wife and took great pleasure in the excitement of new experiences.

Greg was a dope human being. He lived on principle and was unapologetic about his philosophy on life. Greg was a thoughtful friend, never shy about offering encouragement or support. He also did not back down from a debate or a crazy joke. His light and energy will live on in all of those fortunate to know him.

Greg departed this life on May 15, 2022. He will be sorely missed and always loved.

He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife Dakia; four daughters, Dayonah, Dashe’, Daijah, and Kessiah; one son Gregory III; one grandson, Sincere; one granddaughter, Dakari; mother, Evelyn; father, Gregory Sr. (Leslie); one brother, Ray Anderson; his friends, Felix, Shakey, Tay, and Venesa; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives; and a host of other friends and coworkers who will remember him fondly.
