Listen to Obituary

GRACE ANN was born on December 5, 1955 to Oscar and Ernestine Wright.

Grace Ann accepted the Lord early in her life, and became a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She acknowledged in her own way her desire to return to her family church.

Grace Ann was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools System where she graduated and received her diploma in 1973.

Grace was blessed with her only child Melvina OLIVIA Morton in 1974. She loved her daughter very much and worked very hard to provide for her. Grace and Melvina were inseparable. You did not see one without the other.

Grace loved her family and stressed the importance of taking care of one another. Everyone sought her advice, as they knew her response was delivered honestly, but with love.

Grace cherished the time spent with all her grandchildren. Her grandsons were like the sons she never had and she made the best of all the time they spent together. She enjoyed shopping with her granddaughter Miyah. Grace spent the morning talking, walking and drinking coffee with her granddaughter Loriel.

She love to play spades with family and friends because she was sure to win. Grace also enjoyed cooking for her family and telling stories about her childhood that would make them laugh.

Grace was no stranger to work and spent 30 years in Environmental Services and the last 15 years employed at the University of Maryland Hospital.

Grace departed her life suddenly on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

Grace often talked of her family church, Memorial Baptist. She remembered attending with Grandma (Mae Wright) and the funeral of her Father Oscar and other Happy and Sad occasions shared there. She acknowledged in her way, that she wanted to be home, at her family church, Memorial Baptist. Thank you so much Pastor Keene, for granting Grace's and her family wishes, to have her services at home.

Grace's father Oscar, mother, Ernestine, sister Maria, brothers, Clinton, Oscar (Bobby), Charles, Eugene and Chris, nephew, Peanut and niece, Danyell, preceded her in their journey home to Glory.

Grace leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Melvina Olivia; five grandchildren, Kavonte Griffin, Jamar Griffin, Deon Brown, Miyah Morton and Loriel Hodge; two great-grandchildren, Ayanna Griffin and Jourrnee Griffin; sisters, Paula Wright-Roscoe and Mae Wright; uncle Frank Murray, nephews, nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
