Listen to Obituary

Gloria Ann Shorter, was born to the late G. Curtis and Marie P. Anderson on March 31, 1942 in Baltimore, MD at City Hospital. God in His infinite wisdom, called her home on Friday, January 5th, 2024 surrounded by her children.

Glo, as she was affectionately known, was the fifth child of the 10 children born to Curtis and Marie.

She accepted God as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She rededicated her life to Christ as an adult at Faith Baptist Church. In her later years, she enjoyed bedside Baptist and would listen to gospel music on Sunday mornings.

Glo received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Southern High School June of 1960.

Glo was a working woman. She was a seamstress by trade. She worked at Max Reuben, HAAS Tailoring Company. She would sew her initials on the inside of the lining in one sleeve of the suit jacket when she knew the item was for someone famous. New Edition has her initials sewn in their sleeves.  As if sewing all day wasn’t enough, she would sew for people on her off time as well. She was well known to Kmart shoppers of the Sinclair Lane branch as their favorite, don’t take no stuff, cashier. She also started her own Grandma “daycare” in her apartment. Glo was a hustler. She would find a way to make a dollar.

Upon retiring, she enjoyed watching television, cooking, puzzles, and listening to books on tape. She also loved playing games on the “machines”. Her favorite game was Duck Hunt on Nintendo. In her later years, she developed a passion for watching the Orioles play on tv. She was an avid crocheter. She would make blankets and give them to people as she felt. No made to order stuff, you got what you got.

Four  siblings preceded her in death. Brothers, Charles W., George C., and Willie M. Anderson and sister, Sandra O. Ford.

Glo leaves to cherish her memory her two children son, Aaron Sr. (Laura), daughter, Tia (Richard); ten grandchildren, Aaron Jr., Amiel (Alycia), Kim (Josh), Chelsy, Jared (Christina), Derrick, Richon, Miles, Jordan and Ria; five great grandchildren, Caleb, Kelsey, Brixton, Joi’e and Domino;  brother, Percy Anderson; four sisters, Olive Hosey, Marion (Jean) Calloway, Deborah Evans and Kathy Anderson and a host of other relatives, families and friends.
