On August 6, 2016 the heavenly gates opened to welcome Gladys L. Harris. Gladys was born on July 2, 1926 in Hanover County, Virginia to the late Carter G. and Ellen E. Harris. Gladys was the third child of ten children. Gladys received her education in the public schools of Hanover County, Virginia.
Gladys accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church in Montpelier, VA.
Gladys moved to Baltimore, MD where she worked at several different laundries in the city, most notable was Bugle Laundry located within walking distance from her home.
Gladys loved to cook and her specialties were sweet potato pies and rice pudding.
Gladys loved to walk and could be seen walking to many places and socializing along the way.
Gladys was a member of Miracle Baptist for thirty five years, where she served on several ministries the Usher Board, the Missionaries and sang on the choir until her health began to fail.
Gladys was blessed with five children two of which proceeded her in death Walter and Robert. She leaves cherished memories to her children Eveleen, Marilyn and Cedrick, a very devoted grandson James, three sisters Elsie., Mable and Emma and one sister/niece Mary (Alvin). Thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gladys will greatly be missed for the beautiful smile and impact she made in everyone's life.
