Gladys Buchanan, daughter of the late Annie B. Pearsall was born May 11, 1921 in Chesterfield, South Carolina. She was an only child. After a lengthy illness, the Lord called her home on February 8, 2016.
She received her education in the Chesterfield, S.C. Upon its completion she moved to Wadesboro, N.C. where she married the late James E. Buchanan on February 4, 1939. From this union two daughters were born. They relocated to Baltimore where she worked several jobs before retiring from the Baltimore City School System as a pastry cook. She also attended Dunbar at night learning sewing. She recently moved to Delaware. She joined Frontline Ministries, the Modern Maturity Center and became a honorary Red Hat Member.
Gladys accepted Jesus Christ earlier in life. Her favorite songs were; When Jesus came into my heart and Amazing Grace. Gladys always had a smile for everyone, showing those dimples and pearly whites. She made numerous friends, greeting and welcoming them into her home. She was a good cook who loved to feed you and would always make room for you at the table. And even after working all week, you could depend on "Babycakes" for food and fun on the weekend. You knew you were special to her when she called you, "Honey Love" or "Sugar Baby". And everyday she would tell you" everything is gonna be alright Sugar Baby". She was also an avid Orioles Fan and a masterful spades player!
Glades leaves to mourn: two daughters, Delores Taylor of Baltimore, MD and Peggy Taylor of Dover, DE; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
