Born on September 7, 1960, Peaches, as she was affectionately known as, was a shining light in all lives that she crossed paths with. She dedicated her life caring for others-first and foremost, her family and later on her community. She began nursing school with the hopes of becoming a nurse, but chose to pause the studies after her eldest daughter was diagnosed with sickle-cell decease. Gina devoted herself fully to her daughter's care, showing immense strength, compassion and reailience.
Later in life, Gina earned her Associate Degree in Childhood Development and Addiction Counseling and went on to spend the majority of her career serving Baltimore's most vulnerable communities through her work at the Baltimore Healthy Start Center. There, she supported families in neighborhoods with low infant mortality rates. Her work included offering child care classes and events, organizing educational programs, supporting fatherhood groups and assisting families with housing programs.
Gina's tireless dedication, warm spirit and unshakable belief in the importance of community left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Outside of her work, Gina found joy in cooking, a true passion she used to bring people together. Armed with her big pots and pans, she fed any starving stomach that came her way. Whether it was a neighbor in need, a friend passing through, or a family member dropping by; Gina made sure no one left her home hungry.
In the early 2000's Gina was called by God to serve her purpose as a minister. She received her Certificate of Ministry in 2013 at the New David Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a minister. Guided by her deep faith and commitment to others, Gina dedicated herself to being a true servant of God.
She will be remembered not only for her service, but for her deep love, quiet strength and the unwavering care she gave to those around her.
