Listen to Obituary

GENNIE LEE LOVITTE was born February 01, 1933 in Wilson County, North Carolina to the late Bertha Speight and John Lovitte. She went home to be with the lord on February 27th, 2021 at Post-acute Center where she lived prior to her passing.

Gennie attended H.B. Suggs in Farmville, North Carolina where she also worked as a laborer in the fields. Early in life she met William Turnage and from their union they had a beautiful daughter Gloria Kaye Williams (who proceeded her in death). She later met and married Melvin House (who also proceeded her in death).

Gennie was a woman of God who loved her family especially her grandchildren. She was always happy to introduce her grandchildren and did not play about them, especially her Bootney (Tyler). She was a happy woman who put God first. It was never a dull moment with Gennie. She was a people's person who melted hearts with her love and humor. She would introduce herself as Gennie Lee Lovitte and from there it was nothing but lots of laughter. She also had that fiery side to her where she had no shame in telling you how she felt.

Proceeding her in death: her parents, Bertha Speight and John Lovitte; husband, Melvin House; daughter, Gloria Kaye Williams (Willie Jasper Williams); granddaughters, Telissa Renae Lovitte and Glenda Williams; great granddaughter, Gennie Shird; great-great grandchildren, Malayiah Williams and Terelle Scott,; sister, Thelma D. Jones;  brother, Roy Lee Lovitte.

Gennie leaves behind to cherish her memories: sisters, Minnie Mae Lovitte, Mandy Gray Drake and Joyce Gulley; brother, John D. Lovitte; a special son-in-law, George York; grandchildren, Kelvin Lovitte, Rachel Williams, Willie Williams and Angela Christmas; 27 great grandchildren, 30 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many many friends.
