It's with a heavy heart that we share the news of Frederick Napoleon McLean Jr. or as most of us lovingly knew him, Freddie, who left us on August 23, 2026. He was 73 years young and called Baltimore, Maryland home. Freddie was an absolute force, and he truly fought with incredible courage against COPD right up until the very end. 

Freddie's faith was a huge part of who he was. He had this amazing, rock-solid belief in God's love and grace, and he was always so ready to share how much that meant to him. He genuinely wished for everyone to experience the kind of peace and guidance he found in his faith. 

Back in the day, Freddie was a proud graduate of the Baltimore City Public School system, and he even served our country with the United States Air Force. But honestly, Freddie was a learner his whole life. He was always so curious about the world, constantly growing, and always open to new ideas, especially if they helped him understand and connect with others better. 

He had such a passion for the simple joys in life. Give him a garden, and he was in his element, tending to nature with a true green thumb. Freddie was also a legendary storyteller; you could always count on him to "spin a yarn" that would have everyone captivated. He had this wonderful, warm humor you could just see the twinkle in his eyes, waiting for a serious moment to pass so the laughter could return. And oh, could he cook and bake! His kitchen was a place of magic, and he also loved hitting the golf course.

 But above all else, Freddie simply loved people. He was one of the most compassionate folks you'd ever meet, always the first to offer a helping hand. He truly understood what it meant to be a friend, and he never met a stranger. He had this incredibly special way with kids, becoming a second parent to every child who crossed his path especially the little rascals with a bit of mischief in their eyes! As his dear partner, Sharon Everette, put it, "Freddie was a kind, devoted, and intelligent man who was fiercely protective of me and his family. He always tried to make me happy." 

We're all going to miss him terribly. Everyone who knew Freddie know he had a favorite story, a cherished memory that perfectly captures his amazing character, his unwavering faith, and his vibrant spirit. He adored his family, was always there to help, and his trust in God never wavered. Freddie leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, service, and deep faith. 

He’s now reunited with his parents, Frederick Napoleon McLean and Jodean Marie McLean, and his beloved sister, Violetta McLean. 

His memory and his incredible legacy of love will live on through his life partner, Sharon Everette; his son, Frederick Napoleon McLean III (mother Michelle Walker); and his grandson, Frederick Napoleon McLean IV. He is also lovingly remembered by Cynthia McLean, Sharon McLean Drummond and her husband David C. Drummond, Jo-Nathan McLean and his wife Ashya McLean, Luther G. McLean, and DeEster McLean, along with a whole host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless dear friends who were truly family to him.
