Listen to Obituary

Felice M. Moore was born April 8, 1944 to Lucille Chambers and Leroy Scott in Baltimore, MD.

She attended Baltimore City Public Schools from elementary to high school. She was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church and later joined Shepherd Community Baptist Church in 1992 where she was a dedicated member under her pastor, Rev. Andrew Ferges Jr. until her death.

Throughout her life, she was blessed to share love and companionship with two wonderful husbands, Herman L. Jones and later James S. Moore. Both of them passed away before her. Through both of her unions she was blessed to be a mother to 10 children and 3 stepchildren.

During her time at church, she was a member of various ministries including the Usher Board, Nurse Ministry and the Pastor’s Aide. She also served additionally in the Maryland Baptist Convention under the Nurses Ministry.

She was a dedicated employee of Bugle Laundry, Maryland Hospital Laundry (et al. John Hopkins Hospital) and Mid Atlantic Service Systems before she retired. Felice (also known as Mama) was a deeply loving, caring, and nurturing woman whose warmth touched everyone around her. She had a gentle strength that made you feel safe, and a generous heart that always put others first. She loved to sing her oldies but goodies as well as her gospel songs. She would tell everyone to listen to the sounds of her “high soprano” voice as she sang her heart out to “Order My Steps” or “Break Every Chain”. Felice loved to entertain her family as an aspiring comedian with no filter. She didn’t care who was around or who you were, a joke would be cracked and laughter would follow.

She loved to sew and often showed others how to knit (crochet) and become a seamstress as she loved making outfits and blankets during her past time. She enjoyed mornings with her coffee and muffins and lunch with her Golden Girls and a game of Bingo. If it is one thing we all knew, she loved to eat whether it was at Red Lobster or an all you can eat buffet. For Thanksgiving and Christmas she made it her mission to be around her family honoring a yearly tradition at her sisters house enjoying a home cooked meal and relaxation. She always used to say “I don’t know where y’all are going but I'm going to Corrine’s to enjoy a meal with my sister”.  Her love for travel reflected as she went around the world along with her joyful spirit. Her favorite place being Atlantic City, she loved to ride up and down the boardwalk buying whatever little things her heart desired whether it was a $10 cape coat or an ice cream cone (sherbet was her favorite). But most importantly above all she loved to travel and spend time with her children and her grandchildren making memories that would last for years to come. She brought comfort, laughter, and music into our lives—an irreplaceable soul whose love continues to guide us.

She was preceded in death by her parents and other beloved relatives including her sons Herman and Levone and her granddaughter Latisha.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children Felice Smith (William Smith), Kendra Moore, Donte Moore, Dianna Moore, Shyneka Rollins (Charles Rollins III), Ivy Leslie (Jeffrey Leslie) Sherrell Moore, and Princess Baker (Keith Baker); sisters Corrine Ferges (Andrew Ferges), Rosa Bennett, Florence Hope, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a cluster of friends.

Though her passing was unexpected, she was lovingly called home by the Lord, freed from her earthly pain and granted eternal rest.
