Evelyn Faulcon Thomas, the daughter of the late Carl Cads Faulcon and Lucille Brown was born on October 29, 1933 in Baltimore, MD. She departed this life on March 9, 2015, after a brief illness.
As a child, Evelyn was somewhat of a home body. She was known for her infectious smile. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools where she was enrolled in the commercial curriculum. She graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. After high school, she attended Cortez Peters Business School. There she received recognition for her typing skills, typing over 100 words per minute.
Evelyn worked her entire career as a secretary in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She retired after years at Lakewood Elementary School.
Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age. She joined the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church at the original Canton location. After the church moved to the current West Baltimore location, she served as church clerk for a time.
In 1974 Evelyn married the love of her life, William Randolph Thomas. She embraced his five children brought to the marriage. She shared with the family her love of sports, particularly the home team Ravens and Orioles. She also enjoyed game shows, crossword puzzles and computer games. Evelyn maintained a positive attitude through good times and bad. She could always find a way to cheer you up.
Evelyn leaves not to mourn, but to cherish sweet memories step-daughters, Doris Byrd, Shirley Thomas and Corinda McLean; their children, grandchildren, and great grand-children; step-mother, Jessie Ford; sister, Etta Pegram (Howard); niece, Tamara Pegram. She was preceded in death by her husband, step-sons, Billy and Earl Thomas and step-father, Joseph Ford.
