Evelyn L. Johnson

Evelyn Louise Johnson was born on July 3, 1936 to the late Hal and Elma Glass in Leasburg, North Carolina.

Evelyn received her education from Roxboro High School in North Carolina. After attending high school, she began working for C&M Hosiery and then for Broadway Services. She retired from Broadway Services in 2016 after 16 years.

Spending her free time getting dressed to go out dancing with her sister Dot was one of her favorite past times. Evelyn loved music and cooking. One of Evelyn’s greatest joys were her grandchildren. She was a lovable grandmother who always provided good meals especially those chicken and dumplings. Through warm hugs and sweet memories, she was a little bit of a parent, teacher, and best friend. Evelyn was an inspiration to many and often left you laughing. She was appreciated and admired by her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful combination of kindness, laughter, and love.

A mother, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend, Evelyn was blessed with a loving family. She will dearly be missed by her loved ones. She was called home to heaven on March 26, 2022. She is preceded in death by her two sons; Charles Johnson and Craig Johnson, two brothers; W.C Glass and Lewis Glass; and two sisters, Annie Glass and Dolly Glass.

She leaves to cherish the memories; her daughter, Joyce Johnson; her son, Milton Johnson; daughter in law, Patrice Johnson; two granddaughters, Katina McMillan and Charde Johnson; five great grandchildren, Tamira (Ashley) Gary, Tamarcus Sanders, Kaiden Johnson, Ava Johnson, and Gregori Newman II; one brother, Rovester Glass; three sisters, Betty Johnson, Dorothy Westmoreland, and Ethel Jane; sister in law, Mae Glass and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
