ETTARE PRINCESS STOKES, daughter of Curtis Stokes and the late Genova Stokes was born on May 17, 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Union Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Princess was born, raised and educated in Baltimore City. She graduated from Western High School in 1986 where she participated in many activities and was proud to be a "Western Dove" She then attended Morgan State University and received a B.S. in Business Administration in 1991. In 2012, Princess received her Master's degree in Rehabilitation and Drug Counseling from Coppin State University. Princess then began taking classes toward her doctoral degree.

Princess was employed at numerous jobs throughout the city which included several nursing homes, Advanced Federal Bank, Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, to name a few. She also held several positions as a Financial Aid Officer at Coppin State University and recently worked in the Financial Aid Office at the Baltimore City Community College. She was an active member of the Morgan State University Alumni Association.

Princess accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized at an early age. She later rededicated her life to Christ and joined The Church of the Redeemed of the Lord, where she served in the tape ministry.

Princess loved helping people and was a very compassionate and caring person. She was always there in the time of need and loved good food, cooking and entertaining. She was united in holy matrimony to Wayne Brewton which ended in divorce.

Princess was preceded in death by her brother, Dartanyon; three uncles, Reginald (affectionately known as Uncle Reggie), Bernard and Clyde; a very best friend, Lisa Townes Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her father, Curtis Stokes; two sisters, Renee and Paula; two aunts, Cassandra Word an Deborah Stokes of Baltimore. MD; one special niece, Martine Word; one uncle, Andre; one goddaughter, Delena; two godmothers, Stephanie Rowe and Oletha Carter; and a host of relatives and friends.
